About Pop Club Credit Card

The Pop Club credit card is a zero-fee RuPay card designed specifically for people who love shopping online and discovering new direct-to-consumer brands. If you are tired of paying high annual fees just to get decent reward rates on your digital spends, this lifetime free card offers a refreshing alternative. You earn rewards in the form of POPcoins, which you can use for direct brand discounts across more than 500 partner merchants on the Pop Club network.

Because it runs on the RuPay network, you can link this card to your favorite UPI apps and make payments at local shops by scanning QR codes. This gives you the convenience of UPI with the 50-day interest-free credit period of a credit card. While premium cards charge thousands of rupees for welcome benefits, the Pop Club credit card gives you over Rs. 5,000 in welcome value right out of the gate without asking for a single rupee in joining fees. This card works great for young professionals, college students, and budget-conscious shoppers who want straightforward rewards without complicated math.

Commonly Asked Questions

Is the Pop Club credit card lifetime free?

Yes, this card comes with zero joining fees and zero annual fees. You can enjoy all the benefits without worrying about meeting yearly spending targets to waive renewal charges.

What makes this different from other entry-level cards?

The biggest advantage is the combination of a lifetime free pricing model with strong online shopping rewards. You also get the ability to link it to UPI apps, which is a feature not available on Visa or Mastercard alternatives.

Who should apply for this card?

This card is perfect for frequent online shoppers and people who frequently buy from direct-to-consumer brands. It is also an excellent choice for first-time credit card users since there are no annual fees to worry about.

Is it a good first card for building credit?

Yes, because it requires a relatively accessible monthly income of Rs. 25,000 for salaried applicants and has no maintenance fees. Keeping a free card active for years is one of the best ways to build a strong, long-term credit history.

Expert Review

BankKaro Expert Review

After analyzing the math behind the Pop Club credit card, I view it as a highly specific tool that does exactly one job very well. As an entry-level RuPay card, it completely removes the anxiety of annual fees while giving you a 1% value back on your online shopping. Being able to link it to UPI adds massive everyday utility that Visa and Mastercard variants simply cannot match right now.

However, I strongly dislike the Rs. 99 reward redemption fee. When your earning rate is only 1%, paying Rs. 99 just to claim your hard-earned points feels punishing, especially for low spenders. You are forced to hoard your points for a long time before redeeming them makes mathematical sense.

My final verdict? Get this card if you are a young professional looking for your first credit card, or if you want a dedicated, free RuPay card to manage your daily UPI scans. Do not get this card if you are a big spender looking for high cash returns, travel perks, or unrestricted statement credits. For those users, paying the fee for a premium cashback card is a much smarter investment.

Joining and Annual Fees

The fee structure of the Pop Club credit card is its strongest selling point. The bank charges absolutely nothing to issue the card. Your joining fee is Rs. 0. This means you can enjoy the Rs. 5,000+ welcome package without making any initial investment. You do not have to calculate whether the benefits outweigh the onboarding cost because there is no cost to begin with.

Similarly, the annual renewal fee is permanently set at Rs. 0. You will never see a yearly charge appear on your statement. Because there is no annual fee, you are entirely free from the pressure of meeting spending targets just to get a fee waiver. You can spend Rs. 2 lakh a year or Rs. 2,000 a year, and the card remains completely free to hold. This makes it a stress-free addition to your wallet.

View FAQarrowHide FAQarrow

Commonly Asked Questions

What are the joining fees for this card?

The joining fee is strictly Rs. 0. You do not have to pay any onboarding or issuance charges to get the physical card.

Is the joining fee one-time or recurring?

Normally, a joining fee is a one-time charge, but since this card has a zero joining fee, you pay nothing at the start.

What is the annual or renewal fee?

The annual renewal fee is Rs. 0. The card is offered on a lifetime free basis, meaning you will not face recurring charges every year.

Is there an annual fee waiver option based on spending?

Because the card does not charge an annual fee in the first place, there is no need for a spending-based fee waiver condition.

From when is the annual fee charged?

Since this is a lifetime free card, you will not be charged an annual fee at the end of your 12-month cycle.

If my card is lifetime free, do I still get all the benefits?

Yes, you still earn the 1% value on online spends, get the milestone rewards, and receive the full welcome package despite the card being free.

What happens if I don't use the card for several months?

While no annual fees will apply, RBI guidelines mandate that banks must close credit cards that remain completely inactive for a full year. Simply make a small purchase occasionally to keep it active.

Are there hidden charges if the card is free?

There are no hidden annual or joining fees. However, standard usage fees apply for things like late payments, cash withdrawals, and forex transactions.

Eligibility Criteria

Before you get excited about the welcome benefits, you need to ensure you meet the bank's strict eligibility standards. The Pop Club credit card is available to both salaried employees and self-employed professionals, making it highly accessible to a broad demographic. The primary cardholder must be at least 21 years old and not older than 60 years at the time of application.

Income requirements depend on your employment type. If you are a salaried individual working for a company, you need a minimum monthly income of Rs. 25,000. That equals an annual package of Rs. 3 lakh, which is a very reasonable threshold for junior professionals and recent graduates. If you run your own business or are a self-employed professional, the bank requires a higher documented annual income of Rs. 7.5 lakh.

Credit history plays a huge role in the approval process. The bank demands a minimum CRIF credit score of 720. If you have a clean history of repaying past loans or credit card bills on time, hitting a 720 score is quite straightforward. If you are entirely new to credit and have no score, the bank may still consider your application based on your income documents, but approval is not guaranteed.

Will my application be rejected if my credit score is below 720?

While a score below 720 significantly increases the risk of rejection, the bank evaluates your entire profile. If your income is very high, they might still process your request.

Key Benefits and Features of Pop Club Credit Card

Welcome Benefits

Most lifetime free cards offer bare-minimum joining perks, but this card breaks that rule completely. When you activate your card by making a transaction of at least Rs. 100 within the first 30 days, you get a massive welcome package valued at over Rs. 5,000.

This package includes 500 POPcoins credited straight to your account, which holds a value of Rs. 50. You also receive five free Blinkit deliveries, making your grocery runs much cheaper. For travelers and fitness enthusiasts, the bank throws in a Cleartrip voucher worth Rs. 750 and a Cult Sport voucher worth Rs. 500. Finally, you get two complimentary Rapido bike rides worth Rs. 100 each. For example, if you use the Rapido rides for your daily commute and book a quick flight with the Cleartrip voucher, you instantly save Rs. 950 just for activating a free credit card.

Reward Points Structure

The Pop Club credit card keeps its earning math very simple. You earn 10 POPcoins for every Rs. 100 spent on online transactions. For all other offline spends, you earn 2 POPcoins per Rs. 100. Each POPcoin is worth Rs. 0.10. This means you effectively get a 1% reward rate on your digital shopping and a 0.2% reward rate on your regular store purchases.

Let us look at a practical example. If you spend Rs. 20,000 online this month buying clothes and gadgets, you will earn 2,000 POPcoins. At a value of Rs. 0.10 each, those points equal Rs. 200 in real value. If you spend another Rs. 10,000 at a physical supermarket, you will earn 200 POPcoins, worth Rs. 20. Your total monthly savings would be Rs. 220. Over a year, that translates to Rs. 2,640 saved automatically on a lifetime free card.

Milestone Benefits

To encourage you to make this your primary card, the bank offers a spending milestone bonus. If you spend Rs. 1.5 lakh or more in a year, you receive a bonus of 1,500 POPcoins. Since each coin is worth Rs. 0.10, this gives you an extra Rs. 150 in value. Hitting Rs. 1.5 lakh annually means spending an average of Rs. 12,500 per month, which is highly achievable if you route your daily grocery and UPI spends through this card.

Dining and Food Delivery Benefits

Your food cravings are well-rewarded here. The card treats food delivery platforms like Swiggy and Zomato as online transactions. Therefore, you earn the accelerated rate of 10 POPcoins for every Rs. 100 spent on these platforms. If you order Rs. 5,000 worth of food in a month, you earn 500 POPcoins, saving yourself Rs. 50 on those meals.

Fuel Surcharge Waiver

While you do not earn POPcoins at the petrol pump, the card protects you from extra charges. You get a 1% fuel surcharge waiver on eligible fuel transactions across petrol pumps in India. This saves you money every time you fill up your tank, preventing unnecessary fees from eating into your budget.

Are there any bonus reward points for annual spending milestones?

Spends such as cash withdrawals, wallet loading, and EMI conversions are excluded from milestone calculations. All other valid online and offline retail transactions qualify for the spending target.

Is the milestone calculated based on the calendar year or anniversary year?

Milestones are calculated from the exact date your card was issued until the same date the following year, which constitutes your card anniversary cycle.

Do I get extra points for food delivery apps?

Yes, because food delivery platforms qualify as online spends, you earn the higher tier of 10 POPcoins per Rs. 100 spent.

Do I earn 10 POPcoins if I dine out at a restaurant?

If you swipe your card physically at a restaurant POS machine, it counts as an offline spend and earns 2 POPcoins per Rs. 100. You only get the 10x rate if you pay online through a dining app.

Is there a limit on how many points I can earn on food delivery?

There is no specific category cap for food delivery rewards; however, standard monthly fair usage limits of 10,000 POPcoins apply to total rewards earned across all categories.

Can I use my POPcoins to get discounts on Swiggy or Zomato?

You can redeem your POPcoins for vouchers via the Pop Club catalog, which includes major food delivery partners. Check the latest catalog on the official website for current brand partnerships.

What fuel benefits does this card offer?

The card offers a standard 1% fuel surcharge waiver on your fuel transactions to offset the extra processing fee charged at petrol pumps.

Is there a minimum transaction required for the surcharge waiver?

The 1% fuel surcharge waiver is applicable on fuel transactions ranging between Rs. 400 and Rs. 4,000.

What is the maximum surcharge waiver I can get in a month?

You can avail a maximum fuel surcharge waiver of Rs. 250 per statement cycle, providing consistent savings on your monthly commute.

Do I earn regular reward points when I buy fuel?

No, fuel purchases are placed on the exclusion list. You will get the surcharge waiver, but you will not earn any POPcoins on the transaction.

How to Redemption Rewards and Cashback?

Earning points is only half the journey; redeeming them efficiently is where you realize the actual value of your Pop Club credit card. The rewards you earn are credited as POPcoins. Instead of forcing you to choose from a limited catalog of outdated products, the bank integrates your rewards directly with the popclub.co platform. This opens up access to over 500 direct-to-consumer (D2C) partner brands covering beauty, fashion, electronics, and lifestyle.

To redeem your points, log into the Pop Club app or portal. You will see your available POPcoin balance. Each point is worth exactly Rs. 0.10. For example, if you have accumulated 10,000 POPcoins, you have Rs. 1,000 in purchasing power. You can use this balance for direct brand discounts on your cart value when shopping with partner brands. Alternatively, you can convert your coins into specific brand vouchers or spend them on "POP Minis," which are trial-sized samples of new products.

Keep an eye on the redemption fee. The bank charges a handling fee of Rs. 99 plus applicable GST every time you make a redemption request. Because of this fee, it is mathematically foolish to redeem small amounts. If you redeem points worth Rs. 150, paying Rs. 99 in fees wipes out most of your value. The smart strategy is to let your points grow into thousands before making a bulk redemption, ensuring the Rs. 99 fee is just a tiny fraction of your total savings.

Commonly Asked Questions

How do I redeem the reward points I have earned?

Log into the Pop Club platform at popclub.co, check your POPcoin balance, and choose to apply points directly as brand discounts or buy vouchers.

Is there a fee for redeeming my rewards?

Yes, you must pay a reward redemption handling fee of Rs. 99 plus 18% GST every time you initiate a redemption request.

What can I redeem my reward points for?

You can redeem POPcoins for direct discounts at over 500 D2C partner brands, gift vouchers, or use them to purchase POP Minis (product samples).

What is the value I get when I redeem reward points?

Each POPcoin gives you Rs. 0.10 in value. For instance, redeeming 5,000 points gives you a straight discount of Rs. 500 on your purchase.

Is there a minimum points balance needed before I can redeem?

You can initiate a redemption once you reach a balance of 500 POPcoins, though redeeming larger amounts is highly recommended to offset the Rs. 99 handling fee.

Do my reward points expire?

Your POPcoins are valid for 24 months from the date of credit, ensuring you have ample time to accumulate enough points for high-value redemptions.

What happens to my unredeemed points if I close the card?

Unredeemed POPcoins are permanently forfeited the moment your credit card account is closed. Make sure to redeem everything before initiating a cancellation request.

Bank Exclusions

Every credit card has rules about what transactions do not earn rewards, and the Pop Club credit card has a long list of exclusions you need to memorize. When you spend money in these restricted categories, the transaction goes through smoothly, but your POPcoin balance will not increase. Understanding these blocks will prevent frustration when your monthly statement arrives.

First, all rent payments are completely excluded. If you pay Rs. 30,000 in rent via an app, you earn zero points. Second, education services and school fee payments will not yield any rewards. Fuel transactions give you a surcharge waiver, but they do not give you POPcoins. Government-related transactions, such as paying your property tax or income tax, are also blocked from earning rewards. Finally, do not expect points when you pay utility bills like electricity and water, or when you pay insurance premiums.

The bank also prevents gaming the system. You will earn nothing if you load money into digital wallets like Paytm or Amazon Pay. Cash withdrawals from an ATM, purchasing jewelry, and transferring balances from other cards are strictly excluded. If you buy a Rs. 50,000 laptop and convert the purchase into an EMI plan, you forfeit all the rewards you would have normally earned on that transaction. Stick to regular online shopping and dining to accumulate points safely.

Bank Fee Structure

Understanding the exact cost of carrying a credit card is vital before applying. While the Pop Club credit card is highly attractive due to its lifetime free status, it still carries standard banking penalties if you misuse the credit line. Below is a detailed breakdown of every potential charge you might encounter, followed by a quick-reference summary table.

The Joining Fee for this card is strictly Rs. 0. You do not pay anything to the bank when your application is approved and the card is issued. Because the fee is zero, you get to enjoy the Rs. 5,000 welcome package entirely as free value without any initial offset costs.

The Annual or Renewal Fee is also Rs. 0. You will never see a yearly maintenance charge on your statement. Because there is no fee, you do not have to worry about spending Rs. 1 lakh or Rs. 2 lakh a year just to trigger an annual fee waiver. The card remains free forever regardless of your usage.

The APR or Interest Rate is set at a massive 3.5% per month, which spirals up to 42% annually on revolving credit. If you have a statement balance of Rs. 10,000 and fail to pay it by the due date, the bank will charge you Rs. 350 in interest for just one month. Always pay your full statement balance to avoid this heavy penalty.

Regarding Late Payment Charges, the bank follows a tiered slab system ranging from Rs. 100 for small balances to Rs. 1,300 for outstandings exceeding Rs. 50,000. Missing a payment will trigger both this late fee and the 3.5% monthly interest on your balance.

The Foreign Transaction or Forex Markup Fee is charged at 1.5% of the transaction value. If you travel abroad and swipe your card for USD 100 (roughly Rs. 8,300), the bank will add a 1.5% markup fee, which equals an extra Rs. 124.5 on your bill. This also applies if you buy software from an international website in a foreign currency.

The ATM Cash Withdrawal Fee is a steep 2.5% of the withdrawn amount, subject to a minimum charge of Rs. 500. If you have an emergency and withdraw Rs. 10,000 from an ATM, the 2.5% calculation comes to Rs. 250. Because the minimum is Rs. 500, you will be hit with a Rs. 500 fee instantly. Never use a credit card at an ATM.

For Rent Payment Convenience Fees, the bank charges a flat 1% plus GST on the total transaction value. This processing fee applies when you use a credit card to pay rent on platforms like Cred or NoBroker.

Regarding Railway Surcharges, booking train tickets on the IRCTC website with this card incurs a surcharge of 1.8% of the transaction amount plus applicable taxes. This fee is standard for credit card transactions through the IRCTC gateway.

For Cash Payment Fees, the bank charges Rs. 250 plus GST if you choose to pay your credit card bill by handing physical cash to a teller at a branch. To avoid this fee, use digital payment methods like UPI or Net Banking.

Regarding Cheque Payment Fees, while the initial deposit is free, a cheque bounce/return fee of Rs. 500 plus GST is levied if the payment is dishonored. Cheque bounces also lead to severe penalty charges and a negative mark on your credit report.

The Reward Redemption Fee is Rs. 99 plus applicable GST per redemption request. If you redeem 5,000 POPcoins for a Rs. 500 discount, the bank deducts Rs. 99 as a handling charge. This fee makes it crucial to only redeem your points in large batches so the fee does not consume your reward value.

Fee Type Amount / Rate
Joining Fee Rs. 0
Annual Renewal Fee Rs. 0
Interest Rate (APR) 3.5% monthly (Up to 42% annually)
Late Payment Fee Rs. 100 to Rs. 1,300 based on balance
Forex Markup 1.5% of transaction value
